Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Missouri

I have been previosly married, but am now divorced. In the divorce my ex was awarded the house and the debt. I looking to get remarried, is my new spouse going to be liable for my past debt i live in missouri

No. Your new spouse is not liable for your old debt.

However, if your ex didn't refinance the house in his/her own name, you could still be liable on it even if the court ordered him/her to pay.

With the extremely rare (rare as in so rare I have never actually seen it in 20 years of practice) possible exception of medical bills covered under the "doctrine of necessities", one spouse is not liable for debts of the other unless s/he signed an agreement to be liable.

Always take the time to read anything you are signing. Never, ever rely on the clerk or salesperson explaining the meaning, so that you are spared the hassle of actually reading it yourself. Hospitals seem particularly sneaky in this regard.
