Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Missouri
I purchased a vehicle for my mother due to her poor credit. After paying off the car, which is titled in my name, she filed for bankruptcy. She currently pays the insurance, which she holds in her name. I am concerned that she allows other people to drive the car without my knowledge. In the event of an accident or other issue with someone else driving the car, how is liability determined. I would like to just gift the car to her, but am concerned that it could be taken because of the bankruptcy filing, which is only a few months old. Is there any way for me to protect myself from any liability involving this vehicle?

A person filling bankruptcy can exempt a passenger vehicle. Talk ugh her bk attorney. But, it is unlikely that the trustee would try to liquidate her only vehicle.
Good luck
