After one files a bankruptcy, can the courts take any refund that one might get from a tax refund for the past year? And if so, how much?

Re: Tax refund after filing bankruptcy
Yes. Your tax refund, paid or not, is an asset of your bankruptcy estate, available to pay creditors, unless you can and do exempt it under applicable law. Make sure your bankruptcy lawyer does this if s/he can.
