If you have filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, you must obtain the court's permission (Motion to Dismiss). If you have substantial non-exempt property, expect the trustee to oppose your Motion, and anticipate the possibility that permission may be denied. You may then want to consider the option of converting your Chapter 7 to a Chapter 13.
If you filed a Chapter 13 (or another chapter other than 7) you can dismiss your bankruptcy at any time prior to your discharge.
