Legal Question in Business Law in Missouri

2 months ago a woman i have known a short while asked me to partner with her in a vintage/retro store. we each have a sizeable amount of inventory, she mostly furniture, i home decor, framed art, kitsch,china, knik knaks, clothing an such. the , i know i know, verbal agreement all her idea which i agreed to was- her in-laws provided rent free, utility free, storefront for her store. she said i have no overhead, you have no overhead. she would get permits & license i would share the cost ,i did. do i have to say things have not turned out well. all i want is to pack up and go, she has changed the locks, sold some of my items,kept the money. she did not get the business license & is open illegally. how do i retrieve my items, do i have any rights PLEASE help me. i have learned the hard way!

As a Franchise Attorney I can say you're right about learning the hard way. You may (and probably do) have rights under your verbal partnership agreement. The issue will be proving the terms of the agreement in a legal action. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
