Legal Question in Business Law in Missouri
Can the business you work for legally open your personal mail that is mailed to the business. The envelopes only have my name on it and not the business name.

As a Franchise Attorney I can only say the following. From Wiki: Title 18-Part 1-Chapter 83-1703 states in part that "Whoever, without the authority opens or destroys any mail or newspaper package not directed to him shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year or both." Sounds clear enough, but there's a rub. The real issue is authority. By having your mail delivered to the business, did the business have implied authority to open it. It's a close call, and can be argued either way. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
