Legal Question in Business Law in Missouri
What is embezlement?
I do the accounting for a company that pays rent based on a percentage of the profit. My boss has me lie on the reports to our landlord. Is this legal? If caught would I be in just as much trouble as my boss?

Re: What is embezlement?
There are various federal and state laws that govern truth in accounting, and those are beyond my expertise. From a civil point of view, I would think your boss, and not you, would be in trouble. If you are a CPA or hold some form of licensure, lying on official reports could be problematic for you with your professional registration.
I would urge you to contact an attorney, have him evaluate your particular situation, and then have him make recommendations to you based on that analysis. I believe your problem is significant and requires immediate action.
