f i were to write a book would it be leagl to use a diffrent screen name for publicity reasons

Theri is nothing per se illegal about using a pen name that is differenr than the author's given name. But, attempts to decieve by hding one's identity, or using a famous person's name, could be the subject of a civil suit.
