Legal Question in Business Law in Missouri

My husband and his boss signed a contract stating that if he ever left this company he would not use his trade (that this job trained him on) for a job anywhere else for at least two years. He found another job doing this same thing and he wants to work here. He will get a substantial pay raise at this new place. He has worked for the first place for about three years now. Is there any way to say that since a man uses this trade to make money and help his family survive that this contract is junk. How can you take away a mansway to make money?

An attorney will tell you that noncompete agreements, like your husband signed, are usually enforceable if reasonable in time and scope. In a minority of states, like California, they are generally unenforceable. Consult with an attorney in your area for specific advice.
