Legal Question in Business Law in Missouri
my husband and a coworker got paid on friday and cashed their checks. They quit their jobs on sunday due to their bosses behaviors. He put a stop pay on their checks as quick as he could get to the bank on tuesday due to monday being a holliday. Claiming that the guys took the checks without authorization but did not file any report with authorities. Is it illegal to stop pay on a pay check because u are mad? and is it illegal to accuse someone of steeling a check when that is not the case?

It sounds like your husband and his friend can raise a clai for defamation. The issue of the wages can also be brought. They should both or each consult directly with an attorn ey in their area.
