Legal Question in Business Law in Missouri

independant contractor

I worked as an independant contractor for another independant contractor that worked for a trading company based in Missouri. We were paid straight commission. Checks were made out to the other ind. contr, who in turn paid me. This indeviual, through numerous bad trades, cost the company a sizable amount of money. This person has since fled the U.S. and resides in the Middle East. In the last few months-the Trading firm advised that I would continue on with them if I could help get back some of their money. In a 6-8 month period, I continued to trade while also trying to help on losses. The company folded and now are coming after me for losses. I never signed a brokerage agreement. This thing is way more detailed/compicated but I only have 1250 words. What should I do ?

Re: independant contractor

If the situation is too complicated for you to lay out here it most assuredly would be too complicated to answer. You should retain counsel ASAP and explain all the details.
