Legal Question in Business Law in Missouri
laws against pay decrease/contract fraud
I was wondering if in the state of Missouri, is a ''hand book'' considered a contract? And if there is any laws against or prohibiting a reduction in wage.
When I was hired on there were promises in our contract. As time went on our promises started to disappear, such as insurance compisation, vacations and also pay raises. Now they want to decrease our pay. Now I was told that there is no real contract.

Re: laws against pay decrease/contract fraud
An attorney would need to review the "handbook" and the facts to give you an opinion whether or not you had an employment contract. without such a contract, or a union contract, the employer can generally offer whatever benefits or control the rate of pay however the employer sees fit subject to federal legislation in this area. If you would like me to interview you and review the contract to provide a more difinitive answer, you may call me at 314-727-2822.
