If a lawsuit has been continued for years, can I force my attorney to hold the court date that the opposition has continued and is trying to postpone once again 1 week before our court date. The opposition has hired new counsel.

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. If the court date is continued by the court, that's what you have to abide by. This is routinely granted when one of the sides hires new counsel. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.

Your attorney does not control the setting of your case. The judge does. You can ask your attorney to do his or her best to have the trial held on the current trial setting, but ultimately it is up to the judge.
