Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Missouri
my boss sometimes excludes some employees from talking, and others, never get in trouble for talking. is it okay to play favorites?

Personally, it is socially wrong to publicly praise or exalt some people, not not from merit. But, legally, it is not unlawful to play favorites on the job,, unless for prohibited reasons, like race. Religion, gender, etc.
