''Defamation of Character'' What is justified?

A brief background: My friend is getting divorced and she and her husband have gone through and given their seperate depositions.

Her husband mentioned my name in his deposition. Not only did he mention my name, but he said I was a drug addict and I know some drug dealer that he also mentioned.

Anyone who knows me knows I am the most anti-drug person around.

My question is do I have enough evidence to file a defamation of character suit against this clown? I have seen the court reporters documents and my name is in those documents in plain english. Further more, the guy does not even know me from the man on the moon. He is knowing telling a lie.

Strange as it may seem to you and others on the recveiving end, testimony in a legal proceeding is what is known as "privileged" and, therefore, not actionable. Lousy isn't it, in this case!
