Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Missouri

emotional harassment

I am the victim of harassment (formally known as intentional infliction of emotional distress).

I cannot convince either law enforcement agencies or the media to intervene, to apply pressure to end the harassment. I have no money for a lawyer, and attorneys almost universally refuse to handle non-physical-injury cases. A civil suit is all but impossible, and the police are ignoring the formal crimes that are part of the harassment (e.g., the Missouri Ant-Stalking Law). What can I do to force an end to the mean ''teasing'' (in reality, sadism) by the rich man who is using me as a whipping boy? How can I obtain justice?

A private attorney can only get you a restraining order, or money damages. Your best bet is still the police, or, if they wont act, go directly to the District Attorney. Criminal proceedings are your greatest protection. Short of that, contact your local legal aid society and ask them to get you a restraining order. Its issuance may make the police more likely to take you seriously. Good luck!
