Federal government making a employee pay for a vehical accident

A employee totaled a pickup. The employee has no idea of what happened. There was a passenger who was injured. The passenger knows nothing of what happened either. The Government is making the driver pay one months pay. Can any thing be done about this? Anyone else would have to have insurance. The government has none.

Re: Federal government making a employee pay for a vehical accident

I would need to know more facts in order to give any type of reliable advice. Usually, when there is a motor vehicle accident, there may be several different insurance policies which are applicable. The government may be claiming some type of immunity or that the accident did not take place during government related work. This may or may not be the case. I would strongly recommend that you retain an attorney to help you sort through the insurance coverage issues. I have experience in this area and know how complicated, but necessary, it can be to look at each and every policy that could apply. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss further.
