I was terminated jan 31 2007 for a false accusation of a hippa violation they said they had eyewitness of me coping a patient chart I did not copy chart they, the administrator and the director of nursing did an internal investigation on this matter but I was a witness for a patient that the state is investigating a hippa violation on both them. They will not release anything that will prove that I did anything wrong. they only tell me they have
documention on this matter, they have and will not present this to the state because they both know its not true.they have denied me unemployment payments they are releasing to future employees a bad ref and telling them I have a violation under hippa which is not true because they have not reported this. I can not get a job even with a good record in evals for the past 24 yrs. the evaluations show excellent work ethics and dependability. I need help in knowing the laws on what they can tell the employment office and what they can tell prespective employers.

Under the facts you describe, you may have a valid retaliation claim. Ordinarily Missouri Wrokers are at-will employees. They can quit or be fired without a reason. That doesn not mean an employer can give a bogus reason that might defame the employee. They run the risk of civil liabikity if they state a bogus reason for termiantion to that ex employee's prospective new employers.
What you need is a labor or employment law attorney. The Missouri Bar can guide you toward an attorney that normally conducts employment law cases in your area. If you are shopping for counsel, I Suggest Mike Brady from Overland Park, Kansas.
Do not hesitate to act on this, as some claims are time-arred if not brought properly. Gather your records, keep thorough notes of any new occurences or suspicions and contact an attorney of your choice ASAP.
Good Luck
