Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Missouri
How to protect yourself
My mother is having problems with breakins and she needs to protect herself and her house while she is there and while gone, she has limited money and can't afford housing let alone a alarm. Any laws against booby trapping the house?
Thanks,
Shannon

Yes- There are common law and state regulations against the use of dangerous contraptions to injure those attampting to enter your property. There is a chance that your mother (and you if you help) could be sued by a burglar, if a gun goes off shooting him or a blade pierces his body.
So, it comes down to what you mean by "boobie trap" If it is something that could injure a fireman trying to enter the building to rescue your mother, it probably is a civil liability.
