Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Missouri

I was recently notified that I am being named in a Federal Civil Rights Violation action in Federal Court. I have not been served and the case was filed three weeks ago. The person was charged with Child Molestation and found not guilty later in court due to a multitude of errors. This person has dragged me through the system several times and I have nothing to do with his case. I was a detective with a large agency at the time he was charged, and knew the child and mother of the victim, but had nothing to with with the case. This guy has filed every thing in the world against me and has not won a case yet, but I continue to go to court. I am now in the private sector and am apparently going back to court again. In this action he listed the Mayer, two cities and numerous persons. Do I have any legal recourse?

Depending upon what federal law he is alleging you countermanned in violating his civil rights, you may be able to get yrou attorney fees paid by the plaintiff. Most cases, everyon pays their own legal fees. That is the AMerican way. But, in some federal civil rights cases, the winner can get their fees payed by the loser. IT supposedly cuts down on frivolous suits. Yopu shoudl hav ecounsel represent you. Ask that attorney if you mihgt be entitled to get yrou fees paid by the plaintiff if he loses. This is true if you are being sued as defendant int eh civil case. If you are named as a witness, you are much less likely to get your fees paid. you might, however, get your expenses to testify paid. Either case should act as deterent to you getting sued over and over. This is the case, becaus ein some cases it is the plaintiff's attorney that has to pay yoru legal fees for bringing a worthless case.

Good luck
