Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Missouri
In the state I live in, I need one parent to give consent for me to have an abortion. However, my mother is deployed. Does she have to be present for the abortion, or somehow just give her consent? If so, how?
1 Answer from Attorneys
A Guardian may substitute for a parent in a notification and permission scenario. The reason for the parental notification is that many teens have been duped into thinking that an abortion is a simple procedure without risks. It is a lethal operation. Many girls die and more are permanently sterilized or rendered incontinent. Not all babies are killed. Some are just mauled, disfigured or disabled by the procedure. If your father is here, and he does not consent to the procedure, you may not be able to get permission while your mother is deployed. If neither a parent nor the Guardian is available, the Child may Petition the Court of their County to grant permission for the procedure. Please think long and get advise from those you trust before killing a baby and risking your life.
Good luck
