Files That Are Against The Law..
I've heard on the news lately how authorities are cracking down on child pornography. I am behind them 100% for that.. It's perverse and anyone who takes part in such acts should be sent to prison.. But what I'm wondering is, one of the things they are cracking down on is people who download them off the internet.. Why is it on the internet for it to be downloaded? Like on file sharing sites and things like that.. I checked on some of the sites and it says they have no control over what is put on their sites and I don't believe that.. If you create a site, the creater should have control over what's put on there right? Where is the site's punishment for making it accessible for people to download the things they download that get them into trouble? ie: Child pornography..etc..etc..

Imagine you are one police officer, and you are in a stadium that holds 100,000 people. You know there are at least 1,000 bad guys in the stadium, but the only way you find one is to bump into him, literally, as you're walking around. Now, imagine that every hour, about 5000 people come in, and another 5000 people leave. That's what the problem is for the internet. It changes every hour, there are millions of sites, and the police can't be everywhere at once. It's really no more difficult than that.

Because of the complications Mr. DeWitt has described and others, Congress has granted immunity to domain registrars and hosting companies that are unaware of illegal content posted through their services. These companies all take action to stop illegal content once they become aware of it; they would lose their protection if they did not. If you want to help the system, donate money to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
