Legal Question in Consumer Law in Missouri

On 3/18311 had a used motor placed in my Kia Rio 2006 by a local Mechanic. Everything was fine for 4-5 days then my speedometer went out. Mechanic stated that he knew something was wrong with speedometer at time of engine replacement and that he thinks wires were not touching properly and that it fried speed sensor. Owner of said auto repair said he would fix problem for free, but had my vehicle for 6 weeks and nothing fixed now says he is searching for parts to fix. I know he is looking for used parts to save himself $$. He never calls me I always call him. Now it is 8/16/11 and stll no fix on vehicle and also brakes have gone out and I believe it is all tied in to the problems with computor and wiring being fried. What is my recourse, and can I have him buy my vehicle since he has had it so long.

If you get the vehicle back and have it reparied by another shop, you can sue for that as damages. If you are not able to get the vehicle back, you may sue for the entire fair market value of the vehicle. If the mechainc or the repair shop are bonded, you may be able to sue against their bond.
