Legal Question in Consumer Law in Missouri
I had the engine and transmission replaced in my vehicle. The warranty on the work has since expired. I took the car to a different mechanic and was advised that the original mechanic failed to put all of the pieces both the engine and transmission. The original mechanic failed to replace a plug in the top of the transmission leaving a large opening capable of taking on debris, rain, dirt, and the like. The transmission has to be removed at a cost of over $3,000 to be repaired now. The inspection shield on the flywheel was not placed back into its position on the motor as well. In total, for a used engine and rebuilt transmission installation I paid approximately $7,500. What recourse do I have if the work was not done correctly originally?

You may sure fit failure to do the work correctly, if the statute if limitations period has not expired. The warranty did not shorten the tort claim period, unless it expressly says so. Read the paperwork, because you may have agreed to arbitration.
