Legal Question in Consumer Law in Missouri
Legal Business Practice?
I recently had work done on my scooter. The battery on the scooter was under warranty with the store I had the work done at but I could not find a copy of the original receipt. I brought them a copy of my credit card statement but they said that wouldn't work so I requested a copy of the original receipt through my credit card company. Yesterday the store owner called me telling me if I didn't pick up my scooter that I would start being charged a storage fee. I told him I was waiting for a response from my credit card company and he told me he would not provide a copy of the receipt for them and to bring in my card so he could credit it for the amount and then put that earlier charge on the current bill and force me to pay in cash. But I'm also mad because on the original bill he charged me an extra percentage for using my Discover card and that charge would carry over to this new bill and the warranty is not being honored what should I do?

Consumers hsve several options in dealing with a retailer unwilling to honor a warranty. You have not provided enough information to gauge which might work for your situation. Perhaps you should contact the BBB and the attorney general's office or consult with an attorney directly.
