Legal Question in Consumer Law in Missouri

I am in the middle of a very awkward and wierd situation. Over a month a ago i bought a car from a very well know car dealership in my area, and i was fortunate enough to have been able to purchase the car with all cash. The only thing was at the time i signed the papers and agreed on a price for the car, i had told car saleman that there would have to be a 5 day hold on the check i was writing out to them for the car because i had just recieved an inheritance check from my father's estate that was being put on hold at my the bank where i deposited it in my account, so the funds would not be available until the 5 day holding period had passed and the funds were available. They said that would be fine and that the check would be cashed shortly after. I then noticed about two weeks later that the check had not been cashed and no one had sent me any of my paperwork to get the car registered, and i even checked my phone records to make sure that i didn't accidentally miss any of their phone calls. So i tried calling and the people i originally dealt with when i bought the car they were not available. So a couple days later i went up there to find out what was going on. The man who dealt with the cash transaction part of it was not there that day. So one of the other people who worked in the same department said that she would find my paperwork and try to make sense of the whole situation. She told me to come with her and tell her more about the situation while she looked for the paperwork. As i was explaining my situation she tried opening all the file cabinets in the room to see where everything had gone. Except for none of the cabinets would open and she could not figure out where any of the paperwork would be. So for the time being she signed over the title, and other paperwork for me to at least get the car registered. Which i found kind of strange since they had never taken out my money for the car. As i left she apoligized for the whole situation and said they she would find out what was going on. A couple more weeks passed and still she nor anyone else ever contacted me about anything. So by this time i am thinking what is going and i really need some answers. Fortunatley my husband called to tell me that the lady from the dealership needs me to speak with her. So i call to see what she will say. I say hello i'm sorry i missed your call what is it that you wanted to speak to me about. And she acts like she's never heard of me and then asks to give her my name so i tell her and she goes hmm that's funny i can't seem to find you or the car that you bought anywhere in our computers systems. And she even made me spell my last name twice and asked what car i had bought from them. Still she could not find me or the car anywhere in her system. So she said she would look into the situation and call me back. She has not since, and this will have been my fourth attempt to get these people to cash my check. Also i have not been told if they ever have found any of my original paper work for the car, nor my personal check that i have written out to them to them for over a month now. It is like i am a ghost or i had never bought any car from them at all. This is the most strangest, stressful, irritating situation i have ever dealt with. If anyone has any legal advice on what i should do about the matter or if anyone has ever even heard of such a matter any legal advice or answers would be greatly appreciated.

Do not spend the fudns that the check represents. It is very likely that they will catch their error down the road. You have yrou car and yrou title, so you do not seem to be out anything. If you have nto heard form them in teh next ninety days, then you might inquire again. It is very rare to get car for free, but you just might be the one in amillion person that does. but, don't count on it. Perhaps they lost your check. Later they may be entitled to a new check from you (minus the cost of stopping payment on the original one of course)
