Legal Question in Consumer Law in Missouri
Online Auction Fraud
I had purchased an LCD Computer monitor from a seller on E-Bay. I sent a payment of $352.00 in the form of a Money Order for payment of the item. The item was never shipped, nor could I contact the seller. The seller has since been removed from E-bay. I have the sellers name, phone, and address (at least the information provided on E-bay). I also have a copy of the cashed money order with his signature). 90 days has passed since this transaction. What are the steps that I should take to recover the money that I paid? And is there anything I can do to keep this person from doing this to anyone else.

Re: Online Auction Fraud
You should probably do the following:
(1) Make a complaint with the Attorney Generals office of Consumer Protection.
(2) Contact your local law enforcement agency and file a police report for fraud and "theft by deception."
(3) See if you can locate a physical address for this character. If you can, you can sue him in Small Claims Court here in Missouri and then garnish the bank account that he deposited your money order into.
Good luck.
