Legal Question in Consumer Law in Missouri

Concerning Receipts

Hello, I believe that I have been wrongfully charged of a certain sum at a popular retail store. My bank statement, informs me of two charges back to back occurring on the same day from the same retail store. One charge is three dollars more than the other. When I purchased my items, I remember the teller having difficulty with her computer and ran my credit card twice, once before she scanned my final item, (which was three dollars), and once afterwards. With my current bank statement, I now realized she had charged me twice. However, I cannot find the receipt. Can contest this? The retail store wont return my calls. Dose the retail store have to keep track of their given receipts by law? Alternatively, can my credit card company look up the transaction? Is their anything I can do that I have not thought of? Please help

Re: Concerning Receipts

Tell your credit card company that you dispute the first charge, and tell them to remove it from your accpount. . If they cooperate, and reverse the charge, it will force the retailer to provide validation of the charge.

Good Luck
