Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri
Is my arbitration award valid
I went through a non bias arbitration group for my debt owed. I was awared the arbitration to zero out my balance etc. I still have a collection agency trying to collect on it. I have faxed them a copy of the award and after their review they said it was not valid because I didnt use one of the arbitration groups on the card holders agreement. So is my arbitration award valid or do I actually owe them the money? If you think its valid how do I inforce it? thank you

Re: Is my arbitration award valid
Do you mean "non-binding" arbitration? If you did, then the collection agency may still be able to contact you regarding a legitimate debt. If however, you and the alleged creditor signed an agreement to submit the dispute to the decision of the arbitrator, the collection agency may not contact after getting notice of the zero balance decision.
