Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

bad check charges

On July 4, 2008 I was arrested for passing bad checks in September 2004. I thought I had taken care of all the bad checks I had out at the time. I never received any summons or notices that I was to appear in court back then. The warrants were issued in January and February of 2005. My court date is next Monday July 14, 2008. I was bonded out by a bail bondsman and he suggested I get a lawyer. I need advice as soon as possible.

Re: bad check charges

The bondsman was right. You do need to hire an attorney. In fact, if you had contacted an attorney in the first place, the attorney might have saved you the money you paid to the bondsman. For now, it is important for you to consult with an attorney immediately. You may be facing felony charges, depending upon the amount of money involved. Even if you are only facing misdemeanor charges, you do not want any conviction to go on your record. If you do not already have an attorney, you may call me at my office for a free telephone consultaiton. I am sure that I can help you.
