Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

Clearing up past judgement

In 1999 I filed for bankruptcy in Illinois and due to my negligence a credit card was left off of the filing. A judgement against me was granted for the credit card company prior to the bankruptcy. This credit card was obtained while living in Missouri.

I now want to purchase real estate. 1. Is the statute of limitations still in effect? 2. What is the best manner to satisfy this debt?

Thank you.

Re: Clearing up past judgement

The answer to your question would depend on where the property you are purchasing is located. In IL, a judgment lien is effective for seven years unless renewed. In Iowa, it is ten years. I'm not licensed in MO, so I can't help there.
