Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

collection agency

I paid a bill late and after the fact I recieved a call from a collection agency saying I owed them 100.00 I proved that I paid the bill. I never recieved a letter from the agency. Since I proved that I paid now they want 24.00 the original bill was 86.00. Do I really owe them money? Isn't that between them and the place I owed the money to?

It is dificult to follow the facts of your question. it appears that you may have a claim under the fair debt collections practices act (FDCPA0 But, to determine that the facts must be straight.
