Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

RE: Re: collection agency question

I sent the company a certified letter telling them not to contact me in person or by telephone. I said I was evaluating their claim and would respond in due course. However, on the day I received the certified mail receipt and for two or three times a week since then they are still calling my house and asking for me. I have been gone when they have called. My wife keeps getting calls from them. They keep leaving their name and phone number. I thought they couldn't contact you after you sent the certified letter.

It is probably time to involve a lawyer and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. You can also file suit against them in Small Claims Court for the civil penalty under the statute. Nolo Press has a good book on this subject.
