Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri
Collection Law
Is a alias pluries summons left on someone's door step considered proper service in the state of Missouri. Recently a law firm suing me for a debt informed me that they had done this. (I did not receive the summons). Is this firm lying to me or did they do so and can I fight the case on the grounds of improper service. I have 100.00 in the bank to my name and currently no income whatsoever.

Re: Collection Law
No. It is not proper service. If they did this and they take their case to Court, they could potentially face sanctions and may be guilty of improper conduct under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. See www.ftc.gov for more information.
