Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

collection settlement

Last year we received court papers on a credit card bill. before the court date I set up a payment arrangement for the amount of the bill and was told that I did not have to go to court. a judgment was made and I paid the amount that i was told origanly told to pay. I thought it was the end of the matter today i received a call from that office stating that we still owe 1700. I dont have any proof on what we agreed on I did pay 1800 in one lump sum that covered 1716 of the original amount due what can I do to keep from having to pay more on this.

Re: collection settlement

You should have consulted with an attorney when you first received the "court papers". At this point in time, you can go to the courthouse and review the actual Judgment that was entered against you. You can obtain a copy of it for your records. If you do not understand it, then you should have it reviewed by an attorney. Good luck.
