Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri
Collections
I have an account of which I am over 180 days delinquent. I received a message yesterday from a collection agency mentioning legal action. My amount delinquent is approximately $2,300. What are the chances of legal action? Is legal action a last resort? Will they work with me with a new payment plan?

Re: Collections
Without more information it is impossible to determine if you will be sued for the debt you mentioned. However, if the agreement you have with the creditor calls for you to pay for collection costs and/ or attorney fees, it seems more likely that you will eventually be sued. If you retain an attorney before you are served with a Summons, you may be able to prevent having a law suit on your record. An attorney may be able to negotiate a settlement agreement.
