Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

my son financed a car. When he recieved the title it came back without a lien on it. He thinks he can keep the vehicle without paying the bank. What are the legal rights on this situation

He still has to pay. He signed a promissory note didn't he? I find it very difficult to beieve that he actually thinks that he gets a free car.
