Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri
Credit Card arrears
My father has two outstanding credit cards with approximate total balance of $10,000. He has dementia and is in poor health and has not made payments on these cards in several months. What can the credit card companies do to him, other than harrassment, threats, or ruining his credit history? He is 78 years old and really has no need for a good credit score. Can they garnish his Social Security or put a lien on his property or a lien on his bank accounts?

Re: Credit Card arrears
If the credit card companies obtain judgments against your father, it wii be a lien on his real property. They may choose to also garnish his bank account(s).
Good Luck
