Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

credit card company suing me

A credit card company is suing me. I have to appear in court in less than 2 weeks. Can anything be done to negogiate with them before court date so I do not have to appear in court and also is there some way this can be taken out of court records?

Re: credit card company suing me

We handle these kinds of cases all of the time. As upsetting as getting sued might be for you, you should know that there are many different ways to protect your interests. The first thing you need to do is to hire an attorney to represent you. If you are able to do that, the attorney can take care of the court appearance in most cases without you having to appear in court personally. Then, the attorney will collect certain information from both sides of the case, and will in almost every case be able to work out a settlement where you do not pay the entire amount claimed by the credit card company. In some cases the settlement figure can be as low as %50 of the amount claimed. Also, it is possible in many cases to avoid a judgment being entered against the person who owes the money. In other cases, it is possible to get that person time to make payments on the settlement amount and have the case dismissed. If you are in the Eastern part of the state, and are not represented by an attorney, you may call me for a free telephone consultation at 314-727-2822.
