Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

credit card debt collection

I have received papers for court on an old debt. They state the last payment was made on this acct in Sept. 2003. They have a copy of a charge off stmt, and that is the only info they can provide. Wondering what the statute of limitations is for this in MO. Do I have a right to not pay? Should I try to settle before the court date?

Re: credit card debt collection

I would strongly suggest that you consult with an attorney. From what you say in yoru post, it seems unlikely that the creditor's attorney could prove his case in court. Also, there may be other issues to consider. In many cases hiring an attorney will save you a good deal of money. I handle these cases myself, and you may certainly call me for a free consultation if you do not already have an attorney.
