Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

My dad wanted to buy a house in the country from a local lawyer. The lawyer gave the keys to my father to work on it because it was a "fixer uper". My dad worked days and nights putting a lot of sweat and money into the house. He has an agreement signed by the lawyer to work on the house. After all of the work is done the lawyer will not let my parents into the house and took thev keys back. My dad asked to at least get the money back that was put into the house. The lawyer only offered $550. Almmost $3000 was put into the house not including the labor. Is there anything we can do to get their money back?

Your Dad should have the "agreement" reviewed by an attorney who can then provide him with competent legal advice concerning his legal rights and options.
