Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

If a debt collector is calling all the time, but your wages have not been garnished or anything like that, could they confiscate money from your bank account? I received a large tax refund from last year owing to the fact that I made one-third the previous year's income, and I need the money to pay other debts, but still owe some emergency medical bills, if I cash the IRS check, could they pounce on it?

If they have obtained a judgement agaisnt you, they can probably garnish or execute against your bank account. If they have not obtained a judgment against you, and you have not otherwise given them permission to take funds from your account, they probably cannot.

Good luck
