Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

Falsified loan documents

When cosigning a car loan for my boyfriend, the person doing the paper work at the dealership said it would be best if we said we were married. I want the car out of my name he doesn't have the credit to do that. Can I use the fact that he told us to lie and say wew were married. My ss# is on the paper work, but the last name is not mine and he new for a fact that we are not married. What can I do?

Re: Falsified loan documents

It may provide a means to get out of the deal, but it may also be consumer fraud under Chapter 407, RSMo. You should probably see a lawyer and ask for help unwinding this deal. The lawyer may have to threaten litigation. The dealership may have to do its own financing.

I am also concerned because if there is a "penalty of perjury" certification on your loan form, you may cause yourself more trouble by making an issue of this.

See a lawyer as soon as possible.
