Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

My family is being harrassed by a collection agency due to a vehicle that my sister aquired a few years ago. No one in my family had thier name associated or had signed for the vehicle other than my sister. Is this illegal and if so what would be our recourse can we file suit for harrassment?

If only your sister was oblgated on the loan, anyone ther than her husband and cosigners may be able to sue for damages uder the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, for a collector comineg after them for a debt they do no owe. Your sister may also be able to sue, if the coolecotr divulges any information about he alleged debt to anyoen other thatn her husband or codebtors.

Good luck
