Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

I found out on Missouri's Case.net that I am being sued by Capital One and that I have a court date of July 11. I have yet to receive any sort of letter from the attorney nor a summons, even though I did receive a business card from the Sheriff's Department at my door the other day (which I called and they weren't much help). My question is, what should I do next? Should I get a lawyer or just go to court and try and battle it out? I've been making payments on the account for the past 6 months for $61 a month and yet they are still suing me...

Depending on how much the lawsuit is asking for, it might be in your best interest to hire an attorney. Sometimes an attorney can negotiate a deal that will save you much more that the attorney's fees cost you. I would definitely advise against you just going to court and "battling it out". the attorney representing Capital One is a professional with a good deal of experience representing creditors against debtors. You need an attorney to be on an even playing field.
