Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

Freind sold my car for me and asked for no commison. He was paid with a cashiers check which he cashed and wrote me a personal check. He then stopped payment on his check to me claiming he does not have enough funds to cover it. What are my next steps for legal action? The amount I am out is about 5K.

You should not transfer the title until you get your money. If you already have, you might need to sue to get the money.
