garnishment or judgement

I was caught shop lifting, I still don't know why i did it. But the store has threatend me with a civil suit unless I pay 135.00 now or 260.00 dollars if it goes to court.

My sole income is ssi/medicade

Contact an attorney at Legal Aid and ask for help. This is not something you should handle by yourself. While the law allows them to sue you, you may have defenses to the action. See an attorney.
