Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri
I am being harassed by a collection agency looking to collect a debt from my brother. If I send a cease and desist letter to the agency, will I be covered under the same laws, even though I have nothing to do with the debt.

The collector is not generally approved to discuss a collection matter with afamily member other than the debtor's spouse. Your brother may have claim against them. Certianly, you can send a letter telling them not to contact you any longer (assuming you are not on the debt) and they should stop. If rthey dopn't, you can probablly bring a cause of action agisnt the collection agency and the collector in person. These things are very fact specific, so you should consult direclty with a civl practice attorney in your area, if your cease and desist letter does not stop the collector. Many qttorney offer a free or low cost intial consultation. Take all your notes about the calls and or letters you have gotten from the collector.
Good luck
