Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

harrassment at work

hello, i took out a loan and i am unable to pay it at this time. they are calling my house and my friends. they have called my work numerous times and were told i couldn't have personal phone calls. so, the woman from the office comes to my work and harrasses me. i tell her i don't have the money or i would have paid her. i got in trouble for taking care of personal matters on company time. my question is, can i tell her the bill is considered paid in full since she is harrassing me at work, and is it illegal for her to harrass me at work? thank you for your time. will look forward to an answer. --

Re: harrassment at work

You didn't specify if this is a creditor (meaning a loan company) or a debt collector. If it is a debt collector, you can invoke the fair debt collection practices act. If you are dealing with a loan company, your only option may be to get the woman's name and go get an ex-parte order of protection against the woman or better yet, a temporary restraining order against her harassing conduct. I think you could make the case that this person is stalking you and you should probably consider seeing an attorney about this matter.
