Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

Hospital bill

I was served a summons to court for a three year old emergency room bill which I thought the ins co. paid.

Should I contact their lawyer and try to make a deal? Will a judgement negatively affect my now excellent credit?

Re: Hospital bill

You should certainly try to work something out with the plaintiff if possible. If the case goes to trial and a judgment is rendered against you it will stay on your credit report for seven years. So it would be in your best interest to work this out and have the lawsuit dismissed.

Good luck.
